Inspiration Journey - Writing Influences

Inspiration is what makes all of us write, so I'd like share what my writing influences have been. If you took Richard Laymond, Stephen King, Clive Cussler and Edgar Alan Poe plus historical textbooks and mixed them all together you would get my main influences. Stephen King inspires me not for his writing, but how he talks about writing. Richard Laymond for his fast paced style. Clive Cussler for his adventure and story construction and Poe for the darkness I do enjoy in writing at times. I have a love of Shakespeare for his ability to create everything you need to understand and stage a play amongst his words. True talent. Reading the classics and seeking out texts that are more difficult to read has always been an inspiration to me, the act of reading does not always have to about speed. Since almost all I write is based somewhere in the past or requires technical understanding of machines or actions, I read and use a large library of textbooks on any subject I require to construct an accurate store, with so creative changes. It has expanded my own knowledge and understanding of the world and in turn has given depth to a story. I love to research and truly do want to know how the belt buckle of an Algerian solder looked and worked in world war 1 for example. Matthew Reilly, the Australian author, like Stephen King, inspires me for his journey, though I do enjoy his writing as well.
